Agricultural
district renewals
Two Agricultural and Forestal Districts are up for renewal. These districts are agreements by which the county provides use-value taxation for the property owners. In return, the property owners will not subdivide their property smaller than 50 acres or create family divisions, among other conditions, during the life of the district. In Rappahannock County, that time frame is ten years.
The Massie/Exton District has no proposed changes. The Jenkins Mountain District has two proposed changes: the Reed property has been withdrawn, and the Hutcheson property is proposed to be withdrawn.
Based on recommendations by the Agricultural and Forestal District Advisory Committee, the commission voted unanimously to pass both districts to the Board of Supervisors with a recommendation to renew.
Other business
The commission passed along two applications with a recommendation to approve:
• Wilhelmina Price spoke to the commission regarding her wishes to reduce a 25-acre parcel of her property near Woodville into a three acre lot. This lot, and the buildings on it, would be sold and the boundary would be adjusted to incorporate the remaining acres into her farm.
