Faith Mountain Company will celebrate its 22nd anniversary on Memorial Day Weekend. The Sperryville based company began as an small herb and antique store on Main Street in Sperryville in 1977. Now it is the country’s leading purveyor of country inspired gifts, women’s apparel and home accessories.

Faith Mountain sells its unique products via catalogs mailed to millions of customers throughout the United States and through its retail store in the Old Sperryville Schoolhouse at the intersection of US 211 and 522 in Sperryville. Faith Mountain is the largest retail operation in Rappahannock County and is the County’s largest private employer.

Faith Mountain is positioning itself to take advantage of new product opportunities and new marketing methods made possible by the emergence of the Internet. “Last year was challenging for Faith Mountain because new competitors and the Internet made catalog selling difficult for almost every one in the business. We must streamline our company and become even more competitive,” says Cheri Woodard, President of Faith Mountain.

In the coming year, Faith Mountain will reduce its catalog circulation by 25 percent to concentrate on testing new products and developing its web site. “The circulation reductions will limit our risks as we take advantage of these exciting opportunities and in the following years we will resume our rapid growth rate,” says Woodard.
