The climax of the day’s activities came when program chairman Maggie Bracewell introduced Kiyoko Uyeda, Professor of Ikebana, who demonstrated three styles of Ikenobo arrangements.
Ikenobo is just one school of Ikebana but is considered the most representative. Mrs. Uyeda has taught and exhibited in the Washington, D.C. area since 1964 and is active in the Ikebana Society there.
She created ten varied arrangements before a rapt audience while Mr. Uyeda stood by to assist her when needed. He made amusing comments of explanation as she worked and described himself as her chauffeur and her “gopher.”
Both club members and guests deemed the day a big success and well worth the time and effort expended in bringing it about.
