Honor soldiers
Pay tribute to all those who have
served, past and present.
During the month of May, there are opportunities
for Americans to honor those who have
bravely and proudly served our country in the military. Memorial Day is this Monday, May 31. It is on this day that we honor those who have given their lives in service to this country.
Saturday, May 15, was Armed Forces Day. This day is set aside for citizens to pay tribute to those who serve, and have served, this country proudly. And of course, there was the recent US Air Force Band concert at the elementary school. If you didn’t make it, you missed a good show. There were many veterans in attendance, all of whom were recognized during the show.
Some of you may be wondering why we should even bother. Nobody wants war. However, use of military force is necessary from time-to-time to preserve and protect our freedoms and interests, worldwide and here in the states. Whether or not you support what our military does in other parts of the world, our soldiers deserve the appreciation and support of the people.
The men and women in the military put their lives on the line out of a sense of duty and patriotism, as did those who have fought and died in the past. How many of us would be willing to risk our lives if our way of life were threatened? If not for these brave individuals, one could only imagine what this country would be like today.
