Goldie Anna Smoot, 73, of Flint Hill died Saturday, May 22 at the Lynn Care Center in Front Royal.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, May 25 at Washington Baptist Church with the Rev. Phillip Bailey. Burial followed at Washington Masonic Cemetery.
She was a native of Rappahannock County and a member of the Washington Baptist Church. She loved flowers and one of her greatest joys was the Washington Baptist Church and its family. 1 She was born April 10, 1926, a daughter of Lewis C. and Suzie Colvin Riley. She was predeceased by &■ son, Bobby L. Smoot.
Surviving are her husband, Arthur O. Smoot; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Smoot Bywaters and her husband James B. of Flint Hill; three sons, Arthur O. Smoot Jr. and his wife Faye and Gary L. Smoot, all of Front Royal and William F. Smoot and his wife Frances of Culpeper and a daughter-in-law. Kathy A. Smoot of Flint Hill.
Also surviving are two sisters, Maffie Smith of Shenandoah and Helen Grimsley of The Plains and a brother, Lewis C. Riley Jr. of Stephens City.
Additional survivors include seven grandchildren, James B. Bywaters Jr., Scott Smoot, Brandon Smoot, Dasha Sealock, Lisa Smoot, Krystal Smoot and Debbie Sisk and one great-granddaughter, Ashlyn Smoot.
Pallbearers were Bruce Vierling, Bobby Frye, Carroll Racer, Sam Snead, Scott Smoot, Robert Clatterbuck, Waverly Frazier, J.P. Walters and Sam Foreback.
Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal was in charge of the arrangements.
