The 12th annual House Tour and Dried Flower Arrangement Sale sponsored by the Women of the Church of Bromfield Parrish in Rappahannock County will be held this year on Oct. 25 and 26. Houses to be open are Roundabout Farm, residence of Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Haggerty; Montpelier, owned by Mr. and Mrs. James W. Fletcher and the third home which is Canterbury, owned by Dr. Katherine B. Oettinger. A two-night Harvest Fun festival is being staged Oct. 3 and 4 for the benefit of the newly organized Sperryville Rescue Squad. The event will be held at the Sperryville carnival grounds and activities will include rides, games, prizes and food. Pvt. E2 Lee Edward Keyser is spending a furlough at his home near Washington. He entered the U.S. Army on May 14, 1969 and underwent basic training at Fort Dix, N.J. He will return to Fort Lewis, Wash, on Oct. 6 for an assignment in Vietnam. This will be a banner year for fall colors in Shenandoah National Park. The weather has been excellent and about 15 percent of the trees now evidence some color transition. According to experts, warm days and cool nights without frost provide the right chemistry to produce the best colors.

Tuesday’s early rooming frost has to be one of the earliest on record. Miss Ruby’s official weather gauge registered a low of 31 degrees in the town of Washington. Probably it was several degrees colder on the bottoms and low lying areas. A $7,000 federal grant has been awarded Rappahannock County for emergency medical services during the 1974-75 fiscal year.
