Fundraiser planned
A spaghetti dinner fundraiser for John Woodward, candidate for Sheriff, will be held Saturday, Oct. 9 at 5 p.m. at the Castleton Community Volunteer Fire Company. The dinner will be given by Friends of Woodward for Sheriff. Donations may be sent to 482 Castleton Ford Road, Castleton, Va. 22716. Call 937-3076 if you would like to help with the dinner, if you need signs or bumper stickers.
Berry family reunion set
The James Adrian and Bertha Ellen Clark Berry family reunion will be held Sunday, Oct. 3 at the Rappahannock Park. Family and friends are welcome. “Please bring a covered dish and join us for lunch at 1 p.m.,” said a family spokesperson.
Potluck picnic in the park
An old-fashioned community picnic will be held from 3 p.m. to dark on Monday, Oct. 11 at the Rappahannock Park on US 211 across the highway from the Town of Washington. Meredith Gorfein, Raroahannock resident and candidate for the Virginia Hqne of Delegates from this district, will be the picnic’s guift of honor.
The picnic (to be held rain or shine) is sponsored by the Rappahannock County Democratic Committee, and all Rappahannock residents are invited to attend. Families are encouraged to bring children. Meredith is looking forward to meeting informally with voters and their families and to exchanging ideas about issues in the upcoming November election.
Musical entertainment will be provided by David Clanagan. And Cooter’s Ben Jones has said he plans to drop by. Soft drinks, cider and coffee will be provided. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish of their choice to share with their neighbors.
