Troopers injured

Virginia accident

State Troopers Gary Settle, of Sperryville, and Michael Woodard, stationed at the Culpeper office, were injured in an accident during the early morning hours of Sept. 25 while providing hurricane assistance in Emporia, Va.

The troopers were manning a road block to keep vehicles off of a roadway flooded by hurricane Floyd. They were sitting in a parked State Police cruiser when a drunk driver hit them head-on. t

Settle and Woodard were treated and released for minor iryuries at ft local hospital, and are now both resting at home. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to Norfolk for a detached Retina, but did Bid. suffer any life-threatening ii\jurie£ He has been charged with driving under the influence, refusal and future to wear a safety belt.
