runs from October through early April, and consists of two to three hunts per week.
The object is for the hounds to find a rabbit, run its line and either account for it or lose the line, but not to kill the rabbit. Despite the hot and dry conditions, which Dr. Rijke says are not conducive to rabbit hunting, the pack found three rabbits. They lost one, but ran two into the ground. They also ran across a fox, and Dr. Rijke had to pull the hounds back to avoid a confrontation.
After the hunt, everyone enjoyed a “Beagle Tea”. The public had an opportunity to socialize with the Joint Masters and Whippers-in, who assisted during the hunt, and enjoy light refreshments.
