Gorfein to speak
Meredith Gorfein, Democratic candidate for the 31st District seat in the Virginia House of Delegates, will be speaking on environmental issues at the courthouse in Washington on Friday, Oct. 1 at 10 a.m.t At that time she will also make an announcement of a gift she is giving to the Tbwn of Washington.
Girls softball clinic set
Rappahannock Girls Little League Softball Coaches Susan Payne and Paul Gall will be conducting a fall softball program which will consist of fundamental skill development and drills for girls born from Aug. 1, 1987 to July 31, 1993.
The clinic will be held four consecutive Saturdays, Oct. 9, 16, 23 and 30 from 1 to 3 p.m. behind the Mountainside Market in Sperryville. Registration is free for any girl that played Little League this past year and $10 for newcomers payable at the first session. Any girl intending to play Little League this spring is strongly encouraged to attend. Homeschooling families to meet
Homeschooling families will be meeting at the Rappahannock Park pavilion on Friday, Oct. 8 at 2 p.m. to share curriculum ideas and to organize field trips and group opportunities for this school year. Bring your suggestions and exciting materials to display to help guide new home-schooling families who have questions. Beginners Astrology classes to meet
Rappahannock Healing Arts Center will host Stella Richards, psychological astrologer, on Oct. 9 and Oct. 23 from 1-3 p.m. The focus will be on a basic and in-depth understanding of the signs, planets and aspects and will delve into chart interpretation. Friends of Sherertz to meet
The public is cordially invited to meet with Larry C. Sherertz, incumbent candidate for Sheriff of Rappahannock County at an informal gathering in the Chester Gap Volunteer Fire Hall from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 12. Classes at Yarn & More
Quilting classes to begin Friday, Oct. 15 from 4 to 6 p.m. for five consecutive Fridays. Classes will address the needs of beginner and more experienced quilters. Fabric, and supplies available at Yam & More at a ten percent discount for class participants.
Weaving workshop is scheduled for Oct. 23. Learn to warp a table loom, basic weaving structures and techniques on the table loom, and a whole new “language of weaving.” You do not have to own a loom to take the class. Looms, warping boards, and thread will be available as part of the class fee. This is a two day workshop, Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. If you need to begin at noon on Sunday, after church, that will be fine.
