Yesterday, Sept. 28, my wife Lee and I drove through the fog and rain to Purcellville. Our inclination to use back roads gave us several hours of observing the first flickers of autumn. This color had a curious and very beautiful quality because of the luminous light of the waterfilled air. The day before, we had explored another back road, a beautiful one named North Poes Road.
