Celtic music played by Linn Barnes and Allison Hampton returns to The Theatre at Washington, on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 8 p.m.
The concert includes Celtic and Renaissance music from Ireland, Scotland, Brittany and Galicia, the Celtic redoubt of Northwestern Spain. Barnes and Hampton play Celtic Harp, Lute, Guitar and Uillean Pipes (Irish bagpipes).
“We are really excited about performing our fifth concert at The Theatre,” says Allison Hampton. “Over the years we have found the audiences in ‘Little’ Washington as enthusiastic and warm as any we have played for in our travels. We especially love the fact that our concerts at The Theatre have become an annual autumnal event to look forward to in the same way our Dumbarton Christmas concerts have become a tradition in Washington, D.C.”
For the upcoming concert, Barnes and Hampton will be playing music inspired by their recent tours abroad, including an Irish harp festival on one coast of Ireland, and an Uilleann pipe festival on the opposite coast. In the spring, they visited Galicia in Spain to learn more of the rare Celtic music of that region.
Barnes and Hampton have recorded 13 albums. A perennial favorite is the album titled “Ireland”, from which they will be playing several selections at this concert.
