Wildlife program planned
There seems to be a real need for public exposure to enhancing and learning about our native wildlife, as one of the assets of Rappahannock County. So a program has been set, at the Rappahannock Library, on Oct. 29 covering two main subjects: White Tail Deer in Rappahannock County - Problems and Possible Solutions! and Attracting Quail and Turkey to our property. The presentations will be given by two Virginia game biologists, Dan Love lace, Senior Game Biologist and Patty Moore, State of Virginia Quail Specialist. For more information call 675-3152.
Havura Ktana group to meet 1
The group Havura Ktana’s next quarterly meeting is set for 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 17 at the Rappahannock County Library on U.S. 211 in Washington. The meeting will feature a free showing of the well-received 1998 film, “A Price above Rubies,” which follows a contemporary Jewish woman as she encounters an entirely different world outside the close-knit community where she thought she “had it all.” A discussion and light refreshment will follow. All are welcome.
Halloween costume dance set
A family Halloween costume dance will be held Friday, Oct. 29 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Washington School on Mt. Salem Avenue. The cost is $2 per person or $6 per family maximum. All children, pre-school age through seventh grade and parents are welcomed. Children under ten must have a parent present. Drinks and food will be available for purchase. Proceeds will benefit the Child Care and Learning Center’s After School Club.

Saturday, Oct. 23: Women’s Hike Series, Destination: White Oak Canyon Falls, meet at Mountainside Market on U.S. 211 in Sperryville between 8:30 and 9 a.m. and car pool to the trail head, or meet in the White Oak Canyon parking lot, Route 600 in Berry Hollow by 9:30 a.m. Dress according to the weather of the day and bring food/water for self. Plan to return in the early afternoon. Remember to bring your Shenandoah Park pass or $5 for the trail usage fee. This hike marks the one year anniversary of the Women’s Hike Series.
