Arlen Sherwood of Gid Brown Hollow recently constructed a log cabin to support the Piedmont Environmental Council’s effort to help raise funds for the Rappahannock County Historic Survey.
The county-wide survey will bring local history into focus for all our residents and future generations to be proud of. The designation of historic districts in the county is also an important step in the preservation of our unique, green county.
The survey will be performed by a professional surveyor for the Virginia Department of Historic Resources. The end result of the survey will produce maps showing all the historic sites in our county.
All donations are tax deductible. Checks can be made to Treasurer, Rappahannock County, designated for the historic survey. All donations left in the log cabin, cash or checks, will be taken regularly to the County Administrator’s office. Donations can also be mailed directly to Rappahannock County Administrator, Historic Survey Project, P.O. Box 519, Washington, Va. 22747.
