Supervisors

finalize

tower

ordinance

By Gerald Ochs

Rappahannock News Writer

The Board of Supervisors finally concluded work on amendments to the telecommunications ordinance that it had initiated this past April. At that time, County Administrator John McCarthy and County Attorney Peter Luke presented proposed changes to the ordinance that were prompted by objections to portions of the original ordinance from Sprint/PCS, and that were intended to promote telecommunications facilities that are less obtrusive. The Board approved the proposed changes then, and forwarded the amendments to the Planning Commission for their consideration.

A review and public hearing by the Planning Commission resulted in six additional changes to the ordinance that were returned to the Board of Supervisors for their final approval, but the Supervisors rejected most of those.
