The 2001 Summer Food Sanitation Certification course has been scheduled. The course and ServSafe Essentials textbook utilize the new 1999 Model Food Code from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
This course will provide successful participants a certification from the National Restaurant Association that is widely recognized.
Virginia Cooperative Extension and the Virginia Department of Health are offering the 16-hour ServSafe Course and Food Protection Manager Certification Exam. The course will be offered in Warrenton at the Fauquier Extension Office, 24 Pelham Street Aug. 7-14 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The cost is $95 per person unless there is a pre-formed group of 12 or more and the fee is $79. The textbook and exam is included in the fee. To register, contact the Rappahannock Extension Office, 675-3619 before the registration deadline of Aug. 2.
The course is designed to educate owners, managers, and other food service personnel in proper food handling techniques and sanitation management. This course will help managers increase the level of sanitation in their facility, while decreasing their level of food borne disease. With successful completion of the course and passing the exam the National Restaurant Association will issue students a certificate.
