Survivors include his wife, Wanda Birtcher of Madison and two daughters, Donna Jean Pettie of Viewtown and Sheryl Lynn Jacobs of Madison.
Additional survivors include six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and two brothers, James Birtcher of Baltimore, Md. and Jack Birtcher of Severeville, Tenn. and one sister, Betty J. Smith of Elwood, Ind.
In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by one daughter, Karen Lee Kupnicki; one grandchild; one brother and two sisters.
Graveside services were conducted on Tuesday, July 10 at Culpeper National Cemetery with the Rev. Dewey Powell officiating. Military honors were provided by American Legion Post 330 and VFW Post 2524.
Found and Sons Funeral Chapel in Culpeper was in charge of the arrangements.

Jeffrey H. Walker, 28, of Culpeper died Monday, July 2.
He was born Oct. 30, 1972 in Culpeper, a son of Harold R. Walker and Maureene Louise Estep Walker.
In addition to his parents, other survivors include two children, Tabatha Beth Walker and Courtney Gabrielle Walker, all of Culpeper; his twin brother, Jeremy Walker and his wife, Valerie of Culpeper and two sisters, Melissa Walker of Florida and Michelle Walker of Culpeper.
