Dr. Gangel reported on the Leadership Shortfall Conference that he recently attended at the University of Virginia. This conference, he said, focused on impending deficits in school administrators in Virginia, but it also involved representatives of national organizations who spoke to the nationwide aspect of the issue. Data presented at the conference was acquired through a survey of 1543 principals and assistant principals in the State, and it presaged a significant shortfall in school administrators over the next five to ten years.
