A number of factors contributed to the tremendous success of the Amissville Fire and Rescue Company carnival held the last week in June according to the president Jack Atkins. Heading the list was the splendid weather, though hot, it was clear and pleasant in the evenings, he said.
Another factor was the extensive participation in the parade and attendance each night. For this Mr. Atkins expressed sincere appreciation. He said planning and attention to detail, combined with countless hours of work by many, paid dividends and resulted in an outstanding success.
According to carnival chairman Paul Payne, company members and other volunteers joined in to assure an effective conclusion to the event. He too expressed thanks to all who worked, donated food, funds and prizes, and attended the carnival.
Special thanks are extended to the John Hitt family for managing, cooking and serving in the food concession. They all, down to the youngest, worked every night.
Community volunteers worked in various stands and games and ticket booths while others provided a PA system, judges stand, queen float wagon and flowers.
