State Trooper Gary T. Settle was honored June 6 by Lions Club of Fauquier in Marshall for exceptional performance of <}uty and devotion to service. ' Trooper Settle began his career in 1986 and was assigned to Winchester until 1993 when he was promoted to Sergeant. Trooper Settle resigned in 1995 when he was elected to Sheriff of Rappahannock County. ; He returned to the State Police in i998 and is assigned to area 12 dWarrenton), serving Rappahannock County. ; In addition to normal Trooper duties, Trooper Settle is a member of the State Rolice Tactical Team. He is a Field Training Officer called upon to share his vast knowledge and experience to trainees who are in the beginning stages <>f their careers. J He is a range instructor, a general instructor, and an officer survival instructor at the Police Academy. He frequently supervises range operations for other Police agencies.
