After a State Police lobbyist spoke against the bill, its fate was sealed. When it came time for the committee to vote to send my bill to the floor, a member made the motion but it failed. Ouch. My spirits were lifted somewhat when a member of the Appropriations Committee, also in front of the Transportation Committee with a bill he sponsored, told me he appreciated the fact that I had attempted to pay for needed law enforcement positions.
