Other activities
• Mr. McCarthy introduced Susan Vignola to the Board. Ms. Vignola has assumed the duty of Clinic Mananger of the Rappahannock Family Guidance Services.
• The Board agreed to the State contract purchase of two new vehicles for the Sheriff’s Office ($48,000) and one new vehicle for the Building Office ($22,500).
• The Board heard comments from Rose Ann Sharp on the significant level of private support in the County for public facilities and programs.. Ms. Sharp referred to a letter she had received from the Thomas Jefferson Institute for Public Policy in which they presented case studies of alternatives to taxpayer funding. She suggested that Rappahannock should have been included because of some $550,000 in private support for public endeavors over the past two years.
• The Board agreed to the appointment of Todd Endo to the Citizen’s Committee Studying Alternatives to School Funding, and accepted, with appreciation for work performed, the resignation of Jeff Light from the committee.
• The Board approved a special exception application by Farfelu Vineyards for a second dwelling.
• The Board agreed to continue support for the Piedmont Small Farm Festival, scheduled for May 18-19.
