One group of students is studying the Middle Ages; they made coats-of-arms and next week will participate in a knighthood ceremony in which they’ll each be knighted.
• Hearthstone’s upper school students wrote 15page research reports on topics of their choice. The upper school chemistry class visited a wastewater treatment plant in the Shenandoah National Park and made synthetic diesel fuel out of vegetable oil. They will shortly begin a project to convert a diesel engine to run on vegetable oil, and are seeking donation of a tractor for this purpose.
