Registration dates set for RAA
Rappahannock Athletic Association (RAA, affiliated with Babe Ruth League, Inc.) announces that registrations for the exciting upcoming tee-ball, softball, and baseball season have been scheduled. Registrations will be accepted Saturday, Feb, 9. from 10 a m. until 1 p.m. at the Rappahannock Public Library. US 211 just east of Washington, and Saturday, Feb. 16. from 9 a.m. until 12, again at the auction gallery on US 211 in Amissville.

NSDAR to meet
The Culpeper Minute Men Chapter, NSDAR will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at the Holiday Inn, Culpeper at 11 a.m. The program will be Sentimental and Memorial Jewelry.
Estate Planning program set
Virginia Cooperative Extension is offering an Estate Planning program beginning in February. The four sessions on Feb. 12, Feb. 26, March 12 and March 26 will be held at the Jeffersonton Community Center from 7 to 9 p.m. The program is a joint effort of the Family and Consumer Sciences and Agricultural programs of VCE.
Issues to be addressed during the workshops will include decision making for the transfer of non-titled property, surrogate decision making, long-term care, living wills, financial planning for retirement and the overall estate planning process. The workshops will be presented by local extension agents, a state specialist and an attorney.

Fruit school planned
The Madison-Rappahannock Area Fruit School sponsored by the Virginia Cooperative Extension Office will be held on Thursday. Feb. 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.
Topics will include: Chemical Bloom Thinners; New Apple Root Stocks: Insect Management Strategies: 2001 Internal Worm Survey: Controlling Diseases in 2002: Food Quality Protection Update: Apogee on a Component of Fireblight Control; Spray Bulletin Update; Sprayer calibration and 2001 Orchard Survey Lunch will be served, For additional information call the Extension Office at 675-3619.
Diabetes support group offered
A Rappahannock diabetes support group will be offered Feb. 27 and March 27 by Cathy Tibbetts. RN. Certified Diabetes Educator at Trinity Church's Parish Hall in Washington from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. To find out more about the support group call Cathy Tibbetts at 987-1151.
Valentine's open house set
A Valentine's open house will be held at the Oasis Winery benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 9 and 10 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. There's free admission but a $5 charge for tour and tasting which includes a souvenir Oasis wine glass.
