Estes and County Administrator John McCarthy. Mr. Estes said that "Sperryville is very near and dear to my heart," and he noted that he voted for the project and its pedestrian bridge component despite the likelihood that trash will be left near his home once the bridge is constructed.
Mr. McCarthy explained that delays were caused by the involvement of several government agencies that require project oversight, as well as funding cutbacks that impacted VDOT's schedule for drainage improvements. He noted that $55,000 of the $220,000 grant had been expended— mostly on engineering and surveying— but that VDOT would contribute another $580,000 to the project in the form of drainage and right-of-way improvements on Main Street.
He agreed with the need to fill vacancies on the Committee, and noted
