“Joy and I both had a lot of fun doing this book,” said Sloane. “I couldn’t have done it without her help. She drafted the maps. She also did most of the driving so I could look at the scenery, plan the route, and get ready for the next stop.”
Other drives cover the entire state. One takes you to the bottom of the New River Gorge. It then climbs out of the canyon, and later crosses it on the New River Bridge almost a thousand feet above the river, shown on the cover of the book.
