Charles Wood
County native
Charles Burrell Wood, 86, a native of Rappahannock County and a resident of Blacksburg died Wednesday, May 29 at his residence.
He was the son of the late Charles Dudley and Lucy Henry Wood.
In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by two brothers, Brereton Jones Wood and John Dudley Wood and a sister, Nellie Roberts Wood Smith.
Mr. Wood was a retired faculty member of Virginia Tech, an active member of Virginia State Horticultural Society, the Institute of Food Technologists, the Blacksburg Baptist Church, the Host Lions Club and several Honor Societies.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Crabill Wood; two daughters, Amenta W. Buckner of Midlothian and Ruth W. Meier of Morristown, N.J.; one son, Charles Burrell Wood Jr. of St. Petersburg, Fla.; seven grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren.
Memorial services were conducted on Saturday, June 1 at the Blacksburg Baptist Church. Interment will be in Rappahannock.
Arrangements were by McCoy Funeral Home in Blacksburg.
