Rev. James Emanuel Fountain, 71, of Sumter, S.Q died May 23 in Sumter. j
He was born Nov. 3(\ 1930 in Sumter County anij was a son of the late E<J Fountain and Mrs. Peart McKnight. !
He attended the SumteJCounty Public Schools, gradv uating from Lincoln Higt School in 1950. He received (t B.S. degree in Social Studies from Morris College in 1954J
He was honorably dis{charged from the US Army Reserves in 1962. »
His ministerial training began at Lord Fairfax Community College i^
Middletown and he completjed his training at Shenandoah University i(i Winchester. J
He furthered his studies at the University of Virginia, where he pastored until hit return to Sumter, S.C. Upon his return to Sumter in 1991J, he affiliated himself with the South Carolina United Methodist Conference and became an Associate Pastor at Emmanuel United Methodist Church (his church) in Sumter, S.C. 'Z*
Rev. Fountain taught several years in SumfiJCounty District T\Vo (Raftijij' Creek) and for 26 years jfi the Rappahannock CouniA Public Schools.
On Nov. 7, 1958 Re$. Fountain was united in hoty matrimony to Corina Dingt®, who survives. -J
In addition to his wil$, survivors include a daughter, DeAnna Breeden of Atlanta, Ga. and a son, James Edwalti Fountain of San Antoni®, Texas and four grandsons.
Also surviving are tv*> brothers, David Fountain *ef Sumter and Adam Moses ^df Walterboro, S.C.; one sister, Willie Thomas of Bridgeport, Conn.; two foster daughter^, JoAnn Allen of Winchester and Helen Smith of Frcmt Royal and three foster grandchildren. *♦
