“Lady”, a miniature calf, owned by Mr. and Mrs. John Eubank on Fodderstack Road weighed only 20 pounds when it was bom. Angus calves normally weigh between 70 and 80 pounds at birth, however, the calf is doing fine.
The Rappahannock County Garden Club will have its annual Intraclub Flower Show on Wednesday, June 15 at the Metzingers’ Roundabout Farm. The theme of the show is “Dry Summer”.

Allen Jenkins of Nethers Mills recently caught a 13 1/2 inch native trout, however, he would not reveal his “fishin’ hole”.
The county’s first DARE class was graduated last week. In a photo RCES Principal David Smith congratulates Erin Platt as Captain Jeff Brown of the Sheriff’s Office, who taught the DARE classes, waits with her certificate.
Kelly Michelle Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael L. Brown of Washington graudated on Sunday, May 24 from Sweet Briar College with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology and an elementary education teaching certificate. While attending Sweet Briar, Miss Brown was an Orientation Group Leader. During January 1991, she worked as an intern teaching at Rappahannock Elementary School.
Several Rappahannock technology students attended the Technology Student Association state conference in Richmond in May. Phillip Smiley won a first place trophy for his humorous safety poster. Clint Carlson’s unusual design for his checkerboard caught the judges’ eyes and won third place in the Materials Processes competition. Jesse Rogers won third place in the Aerospace Technology contest for his balsa wood glider. Others representing the school were Justin Day, John Sawyer, Tucker Rogers and Joe Dunagan.
