“In the Bedroom” deals with issues that are rarely approached with this degree of sensitivity on film. It is a profound family drama (based on a story by Andre Dubus) about grief and wages of violence.

Director Todd Field’s intense, superbly acted film brought nominations for Best Film and garnered the award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Drama for Sissy Spacek at the Golden Globes. The Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community brings this film to The Theatre on Gay Street, Washington, Va., Friday, June 7, at 8 p.m.
