Charles Acrev Dodson, “Popa”, 85, of Amissville died Thursday, May 30 at his residence.
' He was horn Feb. 28, 1917 in Rappahannock County, a son of the late George Ernest Dodson and Neva Nicholson Dodson.
Mr. Dodson was a member of Forest Grove Baptist Church in Viewtown.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Gladys Wilson Dodson of Amissville; two sons, Charles Dodson of Amissville and Billy Dodson of Culpeper and four daughters, Barbara Settle and Joan Reid, both of Amissville, Rebecca Frazier of Rixeyville and Helen Edwards of Catlett.
Additional survivors include two brothers, Robert Dodson of Bealeton and Milton Dodson of Grand Junction, Colo, and two sisters, Mattie Hackley and Florine Smith, both of Amissville.
He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by one daughter, Geneva Frances Dodson; a grandchild; three brothers, Jack Dodson, Eugene Dodson and Thomas Dodson and five sisters, Neta Scott, Nellie Nicholson, Birdie Hackley, Gladys Mozingo and May Settle.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, June 4 at Found and Sons Chapel with Rev. Charles Clinedinst officiating.
Interment followed in Amissville Baptist Church Cemetery.
