Jessica Lauren Kotzmoyer, 18, of Hume, died Jan. 30 at Fairfax Inova Hospital.

She was bom in Alexandria to Regina Elizabeth MyersShelley and the late Steven Lee Kotzmoyer.

Ms. Kotzmoyer was involved in cheerleading for many years with the Fauquier Youth Football team and then the competition team “Magic,” which won several awards over the years.

She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Regina Myers-Shelley and Scott Shelley of Hume; and her maternal grandmother, Helen E. Myers, and paternal grandparents, Sam and Shirley Kotzmoyer, all of Alexandria.

Memorial contributions can be made to ALIVE, 2723 King Street, Alexandria VA 22302.

Her memorial service was held Feb. 5 at Mount Morris Baptist Church in Markham. As a final farewell, balloons were released with goodbye messages attached to the strings.
