Approximately 75 people visited the Amissville Fire Hall Supday to view the damage done by the recent fire in the structure. Among firemen, rescue squad personnel, auxiliary members and visitors on hand for the open house were Jackson Williams of Hume; Jack Atkins, Braxton James, Roy Mills, Mrs. Mills, Ginny Pierson, Phoebe Green, Eleanor Atkins and her daughters.
Father Du Castillon of Washington lectured to Wakefield students February 22 on Medieval philosophy and theology. Father Du Castillon spoke to students about the role of the Catholic Church during the Middle Ages, and the contribution of such philosophers as Thomas Aquinas, William of Ockham and others who helped to build the Christian faith with their ideas and writings. In the area for 24 years, Father Du Castillon says he enjoys talking with young people. At present he is the resident priest at Bethany House in Washington, Va., the retreat house for the Catholic Diocese of Arlington.
Dr. R. S. LeGarde, health department director for the Rappahannock-Rapidan Planning District, has been given special authorization by Gov. John Dalton and the head of the Virginia Health Department to continue in his job past mandatory retirement age.
