Mark Russell, the top political satirist in the land, came to the stage of The Theatre Feb. 12 to bring “Comedy, Music, Bribery and Conspiracy” to Little Washington. True to the billing, the “Master of OneLiners” entertained and charmed a sold-out crowd with one hilarious joke after another.
Russell’s new and timely jokes figuratively covered the waterfront as he joked about politics and politicians, social and religious trends and taboos, and jesting about himself. The jokes and songs came so fast and were so funny that many were quickly forgotten as the audience began laughing at the next joke.
Losing no time in warming up to , his audience, Russell declared, “It’s nice to be here in Washington, Virginia. This is, after all, the “First Washington of them all.” Poking good-natured fun at where he was, Russell quickly added, “Of course, it has been my life-long ambition to appear on stage at “The” Theatre in Washington, Virginia. Is there another?”
