As he continued, Russell left his audience laughing and crying for more. The jokes came fast and furiously. Asked to remember some of them, most people drew a blank. It is all a blur now. Still, some of the jokes were remembered. With the disclaimer that no one could possibly remember all the jokes, much less accurately, here is a sampling of several of the funny stories that people remembered.
Many of Russell’s jokes, of course, were purely political where he picked up on wellknown news stories. One example was a joke about the “Coalition of the Willing.” He noted that 43 nations joined our Coalition to defeat Saddam Hussein, including Poland that sent 1,000 troops, Great Britain that provided 10,000 soldiers, Bulgaria that contributed soup, and Guyana that sent a Steel Drum Band.”
