could not get firm assurances that electrical and fire alarm functions in the building would be ready before the 22nd, so we decided to make the change to a Sept. 6 opening of school.

Although the safety issue only affects the elementary school, • both public schools will have delayed openings. The School Board and Chappell feel that opening just the high school would create a hardship for many parents who rely upon older children to help take Care of younger siblings during the summer. It is also more cost efficient to open both schools simultaneously, for the sake of busing and other tasks spread across both schools.
