With a smaller student body and a remote location compared to other schools, RCHS sometimes struggles to be dominant in athletics. This is not as evident for the Panther's Girl's Varsity Volleyball team,
“We’ve been a force in the district the last three years.” said coach Jared Nieters, who is in his fourth season coaching Panthers Volleyball. Two years in a row the Panthers have gone to and won the Bull Rim District tournament, losing at regionals both times to Buffalo Gap. They started their season off with a win on Tuesday, defeating nearby Luray in a 3 to 1 win at home.
“Our serving was strong, that's always important,” said Nieters.
