One of the most hyped economic factor of our time is the impending retirement of the baby boom population bulge. Talking heads have said much about the impact this will have, on taxes, budgets and the economy. When we speak of a booming hfealthcare field, what does it really mean? Doctors and surgeons? Mostly it means we need huge numbers of people to roll their sleeves up and care for our aged family members. They will be nurses, aides, orderlies and the like-labor.
For the first half of the last century organized labor struggled for decades to achieve minimum wages, some level of job security, retirement pensions, good health insurance plans, workplace safety rules and more for the majority of Americans who work for a living, who aren't the owners or management of the corporations that form so much of our economy.
