The game borrows heavily from football, and involves a great deal of sprinting. “It’s great for conditioning,’’ said Gillis.
The new coach has reason to have high hopes for bis team. Last year the Panthers managed to send sophomore Alex Ramey to the state tournament, and the team placed fourth overall in the Bull Run district. Ramey came in third at this year’s Fodderstack 10K race. Gillis thinks they will be able to echo and possibly one up that achievement.
“Alex Ramey will definitely go to state, but there’s a good chance he’ll have some companions.” said Gillis. I’d love to go as a team.”
The Panthers will run in their next race against Broadway High School on September 7 th.
