Bynum and Plaksin are both graduates of Carleton College in North Field Minnesota. Plaksin studied Eastern Religions, while Bynum focused on Environmental studies. Plaksin’s interest in farming began when he joined an environmental student group and worked in an organic garden on campus.
“We both like being outside working with our hands,” said Plaksin. Rachel enjoyed working with children and realized a unique approach to teaching about the environment was by teaching about what people eat. As she did more farming she learned she enjoyed the day-today life of working on a farm. “I wanted to practice more what I was doing with kids,” said Bynum.
