Forty-nine-year old Dominique Barbier of Amissville is in stable condition and recovering at Fairfax Hospital after being airlifted there the night of Thursday, January 5, with multiple knife-wounds to the face and torso. The cuts were allegedly inflicted by Barbier’s 16-year- old daughter. The Rappahannock County Sheriff’s department was called by a neighbor around 5:00 p.m. Thursday night, and informed that two females were fighting in the front yard of an adjoining house. The caller told the police that he was worried he or his wife might get hurt trying to separate them, as both women were visibly bloody. The Amissville and Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Departments sent rescue units to the scene but were asked not to approach until the RCSD had cleared the scene. Lt. Connie Smith of the RCSD responded and found Barbier and her 16-year-old daughter. Barbier had several lacerations but her daughter, although bloody, was unhurt. Amissville Rescue Personnel called air care after examining Barbier and Lt. Smith took the juvenile into custody. The 16- year-old assailant, a sophomore at Rappahannock County High School, is currently being held in the Loudoun County Juvenile Detention Center, on charges of aggravated malicious wounding. The cause of the fight is not known at this time. The incident is still under investigation by the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Department.
