The Cambridge program will require more teacher training, and designated program coordinator, similar to Hope’s role withoNext Step.In addition, Cambridge is accepted as a substitute for SOLs and West and Delacour told the Board that their goal would be that in 5-6 years RCHS students in the Cambridge program would not have to take the SOL’s. • Jackson District Representative John Mills announced that the Mountain Vista Governor’s School package would be presented to State government officials to get budget approval on January 11. Rappahannock participation would still be contingent on the county school budget.
• Elections were held for the School Board positions at the January meeting. John Wesley Mills was re-elected as Chairman. Aline Johnson declined re-election as Vice Chair, and nominated Ken Marlor, who accepted. Melbry Paratore was elected Clerk, Dr. Chappell Deputy Clerk and Raye Tupper as Superintendent’s Designee.
• Meredith Gorfein was nominated as Headwaters Representative, but requested assistance with meeting attendance. Gorfein and Marlor will alternate meetings and will serve as alternating Headwaters Representatives. Marlor was nominated as PREP Representative. Mr. Mills was nominated as the Governor’s School Representative. All school board positions were filled by unanimous votes.
