“We are very honored to be a part of this ceremony; not every girl reaches this level,” said Meagan Smith.

To reach the Gold, a girl begins, usually, at the start of the tenth grade of high school, dedicating scores of hours of extracurricular activities to reach the ultimate scouting level. The Amissville girls planned a bible school project; spent more than 50 hours as camp counselors; mentored younger girls, helping them with homemade musical instruments. After a year and a half of projects and testing, they are awarded the Gold. There is no higher level in the Girl Scouts.
