Eagle
earns his
wings

Celebrations are a time when family and friends gather to pay tribute to someone they admire and love.
Such was the celebration on Sunday evening as 18-year-old Dorian Matthews received his Eagle Scout badge at a ceremony held at the Flint Hill Fire Hall.
“He was the best troop leader,” said Matthew Bywaters of his fellow scout.
Scoutmaster Roger Pierson agreed but added that Dorian “didn’t start out a leader.”
In that vein, Pierson paid tribute to Matthews recalling his rise from a young cub to now joining the ranks of Eagle Scouts.
Matthews, who hails from a long line of Eagle Scouts, blushed several times with a sheepish grin throughout the ceremonies but showed his leadership qualities during his comments.
