15th District Delegate-Elect C. Todd Gilbert was sworn in on Wednesday, January 11th at noon in Richmond as the General Assembly session convened.
This year marks the first time since 1788 that the Virginia legislature will hold session in a building other than the State Capitol, which is closed until January 2007 for renovation and restoration. The Assembly will instead meet in the Patrick Henry Building (the old state library building) which has been modified to accommodate the legislature.
Gilbert officially announced the formation of his legislative staff. Gilbert will bring two legislative assistants to Richmond for the General Assembly session.
Craig Orndorff of Woodstock has been hired as one of Gilbert’s new Legislative Assistants. Orndorff is a 19year old sophomore at the University of Virginia. He will take time off from school to attend the General Assembly session in Richmond. Orndorff served as Political Director for the Gilbert .campaign and has also served as Executive Director of the College Republicans at UVA. While in high school, Orndorff served as student body President. Gilbert stated, “Craig is young, but he has a brilliant political mind and an intimate understanding of the inner-workings of government. He also has great
