BOS buys land
After a brief closed session, The Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors resolved to purchase a 1.8 acre tract of land off US 211, directly behind the Rappahannock National Bank, for $111,672.
“It’s going to be used for government offices, the health department, and social services.,” said County Zoning Administrator John McCarthy. The land is currently empty, and with five years to build, the county is still in the initial phase of the planning process for the new offices.
BOS in brief
• The BOS will participate in a regional jail exploration committee with counties Page, Warren, and Shenandoah. The county will be represented on the committee by Sheriff Larry Sherertz, Zoning Administrator John McCarthy, and Chief Jailer Lt. John Henry.
• Donald Brown, Jackson District Representative to the Board of Assessors resigned with 20 days remaining in office. The BOS resolved not to appoint a replacement due to the short time remaining in Brown’s term.
