First they were Brownies; then they wore the green dress uniform. That took up most of their young years. Now they are about to step up to the pinnacle of Girl Scouting in America. This Saturday three young women of Amissville will be installed as Gold Scouts.
The Gold level among girls is the equivalent of Eagle Scout among boys. At Saturday’s ceremony in Amissville, which is expected to draw statewide scouting officials from as far away as Roanoke, sisters Amanda and Meagan Smith and Kaite Payne will be awarded the cherished pins of Gold Scouts.
