Supervisor Welch chastised the Salvanos’ for not checking with their new neighbors before submittdiig their plans to the county.

Public hearings
Following the public hearing on the proposed Flint Hill rezoning, the Rappahannock BOS held a second, much less contested hearing on changing the zoning code for private sewage treatment facilities other than drain fields and septic tanks. The amendment will limit approval to cases where a conventional system at an existing residence no longer works, and follows from a position the Planning Commission and BOS took when turning down a request for a private sewage treatment system in new construction this past summer The BOS also heard public comments regarding personal property tax relief, specifically in the form of an ordinance that would exempt from taxation vehicles valued at $1,000 or less. The justification for the relief is that it actually costs the county more than it earns to collect and process
