County Zoning Administrator John McCarthy updated the school board on the status of the track. McCarthy stated that not a great deal of substantive progress has been made, but that both he and the Board of Supervisors believe that the track is an important part of the Capitol Improvements Budget.
According to McCarthy, the initial budget allotment has proved insufficient due to the cost increases in the construction market. McCarthy said that he would work with the Board of Supervisors and commit time and ideas to furthering the completion of the track and to value engineering to reduce the anticipated construction costs. According to McCarthy,the final track may not be in the exact form originally envisioned, but he and Chappell are “two horses pulling in the same direction.”
McCarthy reiterated that all are committed to moving forward, and asked for community support and participation in the process.
