Gilbert has also retained Gary Frink, legislative aide to current Delegate Allen Louderback. Frink has served Louderback since taking office in the year 2000. In addition to his other duties, Frink will help train Omdorff on the various roles of a good legislative assistant. Gilbert stated, “Gary knows the General Assembly inside and out, and I couldn’t ask for a better guide as I enter the uncharted waters of Richmond. He will be a great addition to the team and allow us to be more effective for the people of this district from day one.”
Gilbert plans to submit several pieces of legislation this week, including bills offered in response to the brutal killing of Brenda Paz, a 17-year-old girl who was murdered by MS-13 gang members in the Shenandoah River. One bill would provide for the death penalty for the murder of a cooperating witness while another would eliminate the “triggerman rule” and allow for the death penalty for those who order or assist others to commit capital offenses. Gilbert will also offer bills this week to increase punishment ranges for the distribution of methamphetamine and to allow the citizens of Page County to vote by referendum on staggering the terms of their school board members.
